SIMULATED WEAPONS FABRICATION

ThreatWerx™ is a weapons replication and modification shop. We are dedicated to the relentless pursuit of providing high quality, durable and authentic replicas, sim-fire weapons machine guns and battlefield effects.

We do this because, when it comes to providing authentic training tools and preserving history, we know that details matter.  From the tapering of the barrel, to the metals we choose, to the audible and visual signatures, our replica and sim-fire weapons are crafted to look and perform like the real thing.

In addition to looking great, sim-fire weapons should sound great (as in, like the real thing).  The proprietary firing system included in our simulated fire (sim-fire) guns provides a realistic audible signature that is both safe and legal. It also offers a significant savings on blanks and in many cases pays for itself after only a handful of training evolutions.

Experience Matters

Our weapons shop has over 40 years of continuous service and we have served a variety of clients ranging from all branches of the military, to museums, to feature film and television studios.

Each gun we produce is custom-made by master weapons specialists and constructed from the best materials. Each detail of the design and construction that goes into a ThreatWerx weapon is carefully considered; Our personnel includes former operators who have used and seen most weapons in “live fire” situations.  Knowing how these guns look, feel and sound enables us to consistently produce authentic performances one would expect to see on a battlefield.

Sim-Fire Replication (Oxy-Propane)

Our sim-fire weapons are most often built from scratch in our shop by an expert craftsman.  We can replicate virtually any weapon. We start from aluminium stock that we cut, mill, prime, paint and build. The simulated weapon is then outfitted with our proprietary oxy-propane sim-fire system.

HOW IT WORKS

In simple terms our simulators operate by filling the chamber with an explosive mix of oxygen and propane and igniting it with a spark plug. At a glance it’s pretty simple but the right gas mixture and a precise timing of the valve and spark events is critical to achieve full auto fire that has the right timing, audible and visual (muzzle flash) signatures for each weapon. We use welding grade regulators and our hoses are the same ones used in Formula 1 cars to meet our self-imposed safety and performance standards.

Static (non-firing) Replicas

ThreatWerx also offers non firing replicas. This includes current military weapon replication (for both US and foreign models) as well as historical replications.

Our weapons are featured in many public (museum) and private collections and they make for great promotional pieces (because sometimes your barbeque restaurant is better when there’s a .50 Cal over the door).

ATFE – “NON GUN” Approved

Every ThreatWerx replica and oxy-propane gun (and other sim-fire weapons) has been approved and certified by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATFE) as a “non-gun.” This unique certification allows ThreatWerx gun owners to display and operate their weapons in complete compliance with the ATFE!

The ATFE certification process is a lengthy and rigorous process. For a replica weapon or oxy-propane gun (simulated-fire or not), to be ATFE-Certified, it must be inspected by the ATFE and meet required design standards. Among other things this ensures that actual machine gun parts cannot be integrated into the system. It is impossible for a replica weapon to be in full compliance with the law, without adhering to ATFE-approved design standards. Know the law and know your rights!

WHAT OUR ATFE CERTIFICATION MEANS FOR YOU

Because our Oxy-propane guns and other sim-fire weapons are visually and audibly indistinguishable from live-fire weapons, those who are not familiar with a ThreatWerx product may become alarmed. They look and sound real, which is the point.

While this is great, it can create fear and confusion and when used for legitimate and legal purposes it may draw attention from local authorities. However, because ThreatWerx simulators are ATFE-Certified, owners and operators can feel comfortable in their ability to quickly dispel any misconceptions of the weapon’s legal status and design compliance. Be safe, be informed.

FILM & TV

Demanding TV and Movie audiences know the real thing, and nothing shatters the illusion for viewers like a cheap prop or a historically inaccurate weapon. Hollywood has caught on and many production teams now use ThreatWerx not only for replicas and sim-fire weapons, but also for plausible fantasy weapons.

Among others ThreatWerx has created guns mounted on the Batmobile, in Transformers and we’ve provided all sorts of good guys and bad guys with authentic weaponry from 24, to Lone Survivor, to the Planet of the Apes.
